Food & Drink
The alcoholic drinks offered for sale will only comprise Beers, Wines, and Spirits direct from Africa. To this end management are currently in negotiations with South African Breweries, and South African Wine and Spirit producers.
Food will consist of authentic traditional African fare that is normally cooked on an open fire (Braai) and will include, but not be restricted to, Game Meats, Steaks, Boerewors (spicy sausage), Ostrich and Chicken. Authentic Curries and other traditional African Hot Food will be served, as will Salads et, in order to provide for vegetarians. Mealie Pap (a type of porridge) will also be available cooked in the authentic way in cast iron Potjie pots.
All meats will be cooked to order on the Braai and will come in the form of Sandwich or Roll, while the hot food, mealie pap and curries etc. will come served in small bowls. Traditional Biltong (strips of dried meat) will also be available.
Management are currently in discussions with a well established London based company that imports and manufactures authentic South African foods and wines including traditional Boerewors, Biltong and excellent wines.
To complement the nature of the Shebeen authentic memorabilia will also be available both for display and sale purposes.
