Business Strategy
The Shebeen will comprise an area of 18,000 sq. ft capable of holding 1000-1200 people with a stage, dance floor and bar areas that will supply customers with beers and wines direct from Africa. The wide selection of imported alcoholic drinks will be served in cans (no glassware), or tin mugs to be authentic. A Braai (bar-b-cue) area will be situated in one corner of the premises with a variety of authentic foods and meats, including typical African cuisine, etc. for sale. Vegetarian customers will also be catered for. The area will have the ability to seat all customers in typical shebeen fashion (no plush seating) plus a large dancing area for those that wish to avail themselves of the atmosphere. In-house security personnel will provide security in order to avoid any form of drugs traffic or usage. An entrance fee will be payable by all customers after 8pm.
Unknown local musicians and artistes will provide the entertainment, and will be selected from the townships and shantytowns of Africa. These entertainers will be flown in on a two-week turn around at the company expense, accommodated in London, fed, and paid for their performances. A percentage of the monthly profits will then be repatriated in kind back to their country of origin to benefit the community. This will be carried out in conjunction with the British and Foreign Governments. It is envisaged that major airlines will agree to fly these people, at reduced or no cost, to and from the UK, in return for advertising and marketing promotions. It is also hoped that agreements can be reached with major hotel chains to provide the accommodation.
To date the British and South African Governments have shown a very healthy interest in our project and have promised to assist in every way possible to enable this project to succeed. The management is currently in deep discussions with both the Inland Revenue and Home Office to overcome bureaucratic hurdles that are holding up the final implementation.
